New Block and Writing Center Outside

The childen are making full use of our new centers outside. I have added a writing center and block center. Items for the block center are placed in the storage container next to the rug and shed each night and the writing center items are placed in the shed. Clean up is quick and so worth it. The kids are really enjoying it.
I can't wait to finish our new reading center outside... I will post pictures when I am done. :)

Spider's

These spiders I can handle. :)
We made spiders using our handprints and turned it into a bulletin board inside the dc entrance.... The letters I cut out using the Cricut Expression... Best money I ever spend.....

Spiders.... ISH!

Today we're talking about spiders.... Not my favorite subject..... I decided to look on line and find a picture of the biggest spider, and found some information along with a video.... Enjoy...I personally couldn't watch the video... Too creepy. But the kids loved it.

Benefits of Children's Names all Around the Playroom

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=g3whxzMqgpY

Above is a video I shot today of one of my preschoolers. He turned 2 May 2. He recognizes the names of his friends at school because the names are placed all over the playrooms. (Table they eat and do crafts at, hanging from the ceiling, hanging in 2 different pocket charts, sign in board, bins for shoes and clothes, and papers and crafts they work on during the week... :)
I just wanted to share.... Awesome job.

Our Butterflies

Our butterflies emerged from their coocoons overnight. We kept them in their little butterfly house for a day to watch them.... We then took them outside to let them fly away. They didn't want to leave. I think they liked us. We did have plenty of time to watch them flutter about in their open house, and one by one they left us to go explore their new world. How fun to watch.. I think we're going to try ladybugs next. :)

Our Cocoons

Our caterpillars built their little cocoons and we put them in the butterfly house this morning. We had to be so careful to make sure they didn't fall. Now to wait for them to emerge as beautiful butterflies. :)

Caterpillars to Butterflies

This week and next week our theme is "Caterpillar to Butterflies". Here is one of our caterpillars blooming into a beautiful red butterfly. :)

My Poor Play Room.....

2 weeks ago, I discovered in my smaller play room wet carpet. Come to find out a pipe had a leak.... My wonderful husband pulled the carpet out the next day, popped a couple holes in the wall, fixed the pipe, got the holes sheet-rocked, carpet replaced, and my play room is back in order.... Some what. :)

I dediced to keep the play room empty except for my easel, post office items and table. We are loving having all the extra space to do circle time, music and in the future, a 37 inch tv and WII will be going in there. I have both the items. Just need to wait to get someone to install them. I love the new play room, and so do the kids. :)

Grocery store and clock center was moved to my office... Wasn't hard to give up all that space because it sure is nice having more room to move around with the kids. :)

Octopus Friends

We made an octopus and hung it from the ceiling. Again, my cricut expression came in handy.... I use the Create a Critter cartridge....

Last week and this week is Under the sea. One thing we did was put stickers on a fish cut out. (Using my cricut expression)..... Great for small motor skills. The kids LOVED their little fishes...

Dinosaurs

I painted a dinosaur on the window in the play room. The kids LOVE it..... Reminds me of stain glass the way it turned out. :)

Baby Dino's

Dinosaur Week

The next couple of weeks is Dinosaur Week. The children are making a Dinosaur picture with dinosaurs that I cut out with my Ellison die cut machine. They love dinosaurs and enjoyed doing this little activity.

April Showers Bring May Flowers. :)

I figured I should try my Cricut that I have had for about 6 months and did up a bulletin board. I lucked out and had a flower template on one of the cartridges and leaves. I cut out 9 flowers, (7 inches) and leaves. Then printed up each of the kids pictures. Some of the flowers I rolled the ends to make it more 3D. :)
I'm going to have fun with this Cricut. :)
